PEOPLE – ECONOMY – ENVIRONMENT

For us, sustainability is about achieving our mission without causing harm or impacting negatively on the environment and local communities. This includes complying with all national legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.

We are committed to sustainable internal management and thus, we created a clear social policy that is well communicated and implemented through proper management focused on the welfare of our team members and partners.

Upholding human rights in the workplace is a fundamental goal for us, necessary for our team members to work effectively. Reaching our goal involves running appropriate training programmes, ensuring fair distribution of resources and openly encouraging employees to join trade unions.

Another concern we have at Tiritose is that of a clean environment. How do we play our role? Through responsible marketing of our non-profit activities. Advertorial material such as posters on the streets are carefully taken down when they have served their purpose, and properly disposed of.

Energy is a crucial element of the economy and because of that, saving power is a top priority. It is also another strategy to uphold the sustainability policy that we are advocating for. We use energy efficient lighting and encourage our partner network to do the same.

Based on an inventory of our key partners Tiritose has developed and implemented a policy to improve the sustainability of our partners. Our aim is to make sustainable development concrete to each and every partner within our network. Internally, we have started the process of a double Sustainability Certification through Fair Trade Tourism and Travelife.

The animals that we share our habitat with are as valuable to us as people and are necessary for balanced ecosystems. It is of paramount importance for us to safeguard the natural environment for our wildlife through supporting animal sanctuaries. As such, we work very closely with animal sanctuaries as well as wildlife conservancies in Zimbabwe who are part of our beneficiaries.
